HISTORY OF OUR BRIGADE

The Marulan Rural Fire Brigade was originally formed in 1946 and is located within the Goulburn – Mulwaree Council area.

Its founding members were Eddie Murphy (who was the first captain), Mark Faviall, John Thompson and Ron Brewer who remained an active member of the Brigade until 2003.

FIRST EQUIPMENT

The first equipment issued to the brigade was two hand pumps, a 60 gallon tank, as well as knapsacks and rakes. The first fire fighting vehicle was obtained in the late 1950’s. In 1972 Marulan was given its first government funded new vehicle, a land drover, which has now been in retirement since late 2004.

The next funded vehicle was received was a Bedford in 1978, which continued in the brigade until 1997. In 1997 we replaced the Bedford with a cat 1 Isuzu.

OUR STATION

Through fund raising efforts of the community, generous donations and a lot of hard work, the Marulan fire shed was built in 1987.

In 1995 the current extension to our station was completed. This extension included our meeting room and kitchen as well as an amenities block.

In 1997 the Rural Fire Service purchased the Marulan fire station and also built a single bay shed at Marulan south where a Cat 7 is based.
