Marulan Rural Fire Service not only responds to rural fires, but also attends structure fires of dwellings and out buildings. The Brigade attends other emergencies such as motor vehicle accidents on the Hume Highway and on the district's country roads. Regular support of other emergency services is required by the Brigade on a regular basis, such as the NSW Ambulance Service, Police and the State Emergency Services with traffic control and tasks such as assisting with fallen trees and power lines. Our Brigade is constantly planning Hazard Reduction throughout the whole year, not just during the lead up to the warmer months. Marulan Brigade has developed a Village Protection Plan for Marulan township in the event of a serious bushfire threat. Marulan Rural Fire Brigade attends at least 60 calls a year, which is commendable for a voluntary rural fire brigade. The Marulan Brigade runs many fund raisers each year with great community support. These include the now famous Christmas Eve Lolly Run when Santa Claus visits Marulan Preschool, arriving on a fire truck! |
